Carl's Not To Blame

A follow up on my post "defending" Carl Peterson yesterday.

Some Chiefs fans are upset at Peterson for not trading Tony Gonzalez to a contender.

However, the Chiefs could not just give him away. Head-case and massively overrated Jeremy Shockey was traded for two picks (a 2nd and 5th) in the the Giants-Saints trade from the off-season. No matter how younger Shockey is than Gonzalez, he (Shockey) still pales in comparison to Gonzalez' blocking and his abilities to still be a productive tight-end, even with some of the worst quarterbacks in the league tossing him the ball.

So, while not showing Gonzalez mercy, it was still Carl's responsibility to get the best deal possible. It appears that could not happen.
